Beginning Web Development Made Easy

Web development is a broad term for the work involved in making websites and other web applications for the Internet or a local Intranet. It ranges from making simple static web pages, to creating complex applications like Content Management Systems, Social Networks, and Search Engines. Among many web professionals, web development mainly refers to the non-design aspects of building websites such as writing markup and coding.

Web developers generally fall into three main categories: Front-End, Back-End, and Full-Stack. A front-end developer is responsible for the behaviors and visuals that run in a user’s web browser. A back-end developer is one who specializes in the behind-the-scenes server functionalities. And A full-stack developer is someone who works on both the user-facing webpage and the back-end server functionalities; a jack of all trades.

Should You Use a VPN?

What is a VPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. The purpose of a VPN is to extend a private network across a public network like the internet, and to allow it’s users to share network resources as if they were physically connected to the same private network. VPN connections are encrypted and any applications running on one can benefit from the security and functionality that such a connection provides.

For an example, a certain website or service like Netflix or Youtube is blocked or banned in your country. Connecting to a VPN server in a place where it is not blocked can allow such websites and services to be accessed by using the internet connection shared by the VPN server. This works because your connection to the VPN is encrypted and your internet provider or government can only see that you are using a encrypted connection, but not what it is for.

A New Beginning

Choosing a domain name can be hard. If you are making a brand new website, it needs a name. You’ll want something catchy, yet short and sweet; something that alludes to the purpose of the website. Today, I finally settled on a name and the htmljoe.com domain was registered.

For anyone wondering why this domain name, HTML(Hypertext Markup Language) is widely considered a core component of the internet. This website is about all things tech, and the internet is a big part of it. HTML was the first language I learned back when I was young and interested in web development. Additionally, htmljoe was my very first online identity and handle way back when irc was big. You could say it has some sentimental value to me. 🙂
